Sixth person dies following stage collapse at Indiana State Fair

A sixth person has died following the stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair last weekend.

Reports say that a 22-year-old college student has become the latest casualty after injuries suffered at the festival, according to Billboard.com.

Strong winds toppled the metal scaffolding holding lights and equipment, sending it plunging into fans awaiting a concert by country outfit Sugarland. Several people were killed instantly, and four dozen were injured.

Now, it has emerged that Jennifer Haskell died yesterday (August 19) morning at a hospital in Indianapolis. Her uncle, Mike Whited, announced her death in a statement. Haskell was entering her senior year at Ball State University, where she was studying sports medicine.

The Indiana collapse was one of two festival tragedies within a week. On Thursday, storms brought stages down at Belgium's Pukkelpop, killing five.
