Ridely Scott to make new 'Blade Runner' film

Ridley Scott has signed on to return to another science fiction creation of his past, agreeing to direct a new Blade Runner film. As well as making the forthcomingPrometheus, a film that was described by its director as "sharing DNA with Alien", his first sci-fi hit, Scott is to helm a new film from the world created by Philip K Dick.

As reported by Deadline.com, it is still unknown whether the film will evolve into a sequel, prequel or even a reboot of the original 1982 film.

In March of this year, film studio Alcon secured "film, television and ancillary franchise rights" with the intention to produce prequels and sequels.
